Orthomolecular Medicine: A natural and personalized approach to menopause treatment

Menopause, a natural transition period in a woman’s life, is often accompanied by a series of unpleasant symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances and mood changes. Orthomolecular medicine appears as a promising alternative for treating these symptoms, using essential nutrients to restore the body’s biochemical balance.

According to Rodrigues (2022), orthomolecular medicine is based on the principle that the deficiency of certain nutrients can contribute to the development of diseases and physiological imbalances. In the context of menopause, supplementation with vitamins, minerals and other bioactive compounds can help alleviate symptoms and promote women’s health.

Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of orthomolecular medicine in treating a variety of conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neurological disorders. During menopause, supplementation with vitamin D, calcium and magnesium, for example, can contribute to the prevention of osteoporosis, a common condition at this stage of a woman’s life (Rodrigues, 2022).

Orthomolecular medicine offers a personalized and natural approach to menopause treatment, taking into account each woman’s individual needs. However, it is essential that supplementation is carried out under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional in order to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
