McGowan et al. (2012) explore the motivations, expectations and realities of women entrepreneurs seeking to balance their careers with domestic and family responsibilities. The study highlights that although some women are motivated by factors similar to men, such as desire for independence and financial gain, many choose entrepreneurship to reconcile work and family.
The research reveals that flexibility and the ability to care for children are important motivators for women starting their own businesses. However, the study also shows that the expectation of a better work-life balance does not always materialize, since many entrepreneurs end up working more hours and facing challenges in time management.
McGowan et al. (2012) discuss the factors that drive women to undertake, such as frustration with the lack of recognition and opportunities in the traditional labor market, as well as the factors that attract them, such as the search for autonomy and personal fulfillment. The study also addresses the importance of considering the expectations and realities of entrepreneurial life so that women can make informed decisions and build successful businesses.
